I wasn’t chosen for a scholarship offered by my medical school for which I thought I was a good fit (okay, I wasn’t even one of the 3 finalists…). Get this: the group was looking for a med student who loves running and would keep in contact through blogging (…and who lives out the virtues of the physician the award was named after…yes, this part is more vague and maybe doesn’t have Geraldine written all over it…). I was let down for a while remember all those 10+ mile runs when I was motivated by knowing that there are people at my school who support my running and think it’s an important part of life. All those thoughts and daydreams burst away and I was left like a blob on the couch. Then I wanted to get out of this hole as fast as I could: thought about the weaknesses of my application, and started looking for more opportunities. I’m trying again.

Didn’t eat that healthy today? Skimped on a workout? The disappointment only subsides if you DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. Get up, go out, and change one aspect of your day for the better. This is why I love eating healthy and maintaining and active lifestyle: it’s a challenge everyday. And there’s a purpose to everyday.

Hike & Seek

Does anyone still do GPOYW anymore? Oh well, life update time: Yosemite (more photos on the way), took my 14 year old brother to Disneyland for his first time last weekend and this was his favorite moment (Is it sad that he didn’t go as a little kid?), had a solo voice recital (faced my fear!), modern dance performance (first time choreographing), getting ready to go to Cancun TOMORROW (first time here!), finishing lots of writing projects, starting to find roommates/apartment for med school (excited to move!!!), gathering school paperworks, signed up for yoga, public speaking, jazz dance, and swimming classes this summer!

What is everyone else doing this summer?

P.S. Off the shoulder shirt did NOTHING for my tan lines…And I really like theme parks because you’re always walking and on the go…and Mickey is stepping on my foot.

Yosemite, where you can hike under a rainbow.

I’m so bad at this game…My brother got +108,000 points and the high score today was 2.8 million! My cousin wears a poke-ball pedometer and we took about 6500 steps in 3-4 hours around Disneyland lol. I also ran in a treadmill for 8 pace miles today! I’ve never ran that long on a treadmill before…Watched some Tron (Quorra), Avatar Korra, and Zorro (the governor takes Zorro’s baby!!!) while treading.

Panorama Trail in Yosemite was simply amazing.

Hiking Panoramic Trail to Glacier Point and make to Yosemite Valley. 11 miles round trip, including a grueling and steep 4 miles down hill, peak elevation of 7214 ft. It was an amazing experience with waterfalls, rivers, and some of the best views in the world. But views don’t come easy!

Hey everyone I’m hiking in Yosemite this weekend! Scrambled through an old rock slide yesterday and today my group is doing Nevada Falls, pizza (I hear theres salad and light cheese options) at Camp Curry, and star gazing in the meadows!

http://www.runlikeadiva.com/ Half Marathon Series
I stumbled upon the Run Like a Diva half marathon race today in San Francisco and the whole time people were confused if I was part of the race or not. Since I was separated from the pack, people looked at me pondering if I was the first…or just the last runner lol! One of the photographers was going crazy when I ran by because he thought I was the leader HA yeah right not at my long-run slow pace and not-so-hardcore looking running clothes. Volunteers asked me if I was a “diva” and I was like…Noo.. Looks like a fun race though!

Dry Fall Trail, Death Valley
This was one of the best parts of my camping trip! My PE instructor (pictured) really changed my perspective towards the outdoors. Before, I would assume that something like this wasn’t doable. But now, I’m always considering what would be cool to explore and what’s just a little further in. I’ve began to look at nature differently and with more excitement.

Happy Easter, Good Friday, Passover from Bay to Breakers, my next race! So looking forward to this experience! I’m still thinking of my costume/outfit and am trying to get my brother to run with me.

I think spending time outdoors is a perfect date. But keep up your cardio so you won’t slow anyone down! One of the perks of being fit is that people want to include you in their physical activities. They’ll invite you hiking, camping, running, play sports, etc. You remember in high school when you felt cool if athletic guys would pick you to be part of their PE team? I don’t. lol.

This caption is bad. BUT the jist is that keep training and getting stronger so you can go out with people and have a great time! Also, look how cute the college couple I met camping are?!! <333
