You look so radiant and healthy! I really wanna grow my hair long and yours looks nice do you have any tips/advice? I had split ends so I trimmed most of it off but still have some

Too bad “radiant” most likely leads to tan and wrinkly in the (hopefully not-so-near) future =_=…I definitely pamper my hair! Some treatments I do include:

  • Leave-in-conditioner after showering. I use Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine. It’s only $2.99 at Target! Works well at night because it’s thick.
  • Another leave-in-conditioner I like, Aussie Hair Insurance. This is good for daytime because it’s misty and light.
  • For more intense treatment, I use a tablespoon of hair oil like Weleda Rosemary Oil, and massage it through my hair. I make sure to moisturize ends thoroughly. Then, I tie my hair in a loose bun and sleep with it overnight!
  • I hardly ever use a blow dryer or straightener. My hair stylist uses them on me once every 3-4 months.
  • I only use curling irons or hot curlers once or twice a year for very special occasions…(I’m really lazy about my hair when I go out..wooo little braid or poofy half-bun).
  • When conditioning your hair in the shower, leave the product in for 2-3 minutes before rinsing. Take care of other stuff in the meantime!
  • I eat a lot of omega-3s and Vitamin E! :D

I only have experience with straight, albeit rather dry, hair! I have no clue how to manage curly hair.

You are so pretty! What shampoo and conditioner do you use?

Thank you, you’re so kind. I splurge on shampoo and conditioner…I use Matrix Biolage Color Care. I don’t dye or highlight my hair, but this version was on sale lol. I want to try their Hydratherapie Shampoo & Conditioner. I was using Nexxus Therappe Shampoo and Conditioner, but the moisturizing effect does not last as long. Matrix Biolage is amazing! Especially if you have coarse hair…it makes it feel instantly sleeker and look shinier…And it STAYS that way. Also, my mom swears that Nexxus made her hair sleek…but it made more it fall out! Matrix has slowed down the hair-loss problem for her lol.

Matrix Biolage is expensive in stores and salons, but I buy it from Amazon for discounted prices (albeit large portions…I get the 1 Liter shampoo and conditioning set!). I think Shampoo and Conditioner is worth a splurge, especially if you have thick hair. The bottles last a long time. Good quality products make your hair more manageable, enjoyable, and just overall prettier!

I found a way to get rid of blackheads! I was so excited with the results that I had to share :D

  1. Cover your problem area (for me, it’s my nose) with Queen Helene Mint Julep masque. It should be thick, opaque layer.
  2. Let it dry and sleep with it overnight.
  3. Rinse away masque in the morning.

I’ve never tried this before, but I woke up with noticeably clearer skin! Some of it rubbed off on my pillow, but the masque doesn’t stain. I’m definitely trying this again.

Hi Everyone! Continuing with my Skincare theme for the week, this is a post about having sensitive skin

These are some basic facts about sensitive/reactive skin and ways to treat your face nicely. Also, the products pictured are ones that I’ve personally used and found helpful, effective, and gentle.

  • Cetaphil cleanser also works as a make-up remover w/o water. It’s good for males & females.
  • Purpose cleanser is what I’ve currently using right now. I use this at night because that’s when I apply my acne medication.
  • Cetaphil Moistuerizer has an SPF 50, Vitamins A & C to fight free-radicals, and feels really smooth and thin.
  • Neutrogena On-the-Spot has only 2.5% benzoyl peroxide so it dries out your skin less than the 5-10% benzoyl peroxide found in brands such as Clearasil.

I got the info from January 2012’s issue of Madison Mag, Australia’s leading fashion & lifestyle magazine. There’s a GREAT article on skin called “Sense & Sensitivity” this month, but I don’t think I’m allowed to scan & post it…

Keep your skin happy & healthy!

Hey everyone, this is how I deal with acne/breakouts/blemishes etc. It’s something to think about and to discuss with your doctor for minor to major acne. I break-out like once a month (wonder why…) and have the occasional zit due to lack of sleep.

  1. Adapalene Gel (generic form of Differin): This generic form is really inexpensive with most insurance plans. This is a retinoid gel (Vitamin A derivative) which helps turn over new skin cells. It has both exfoliating and anti-inflammatory effects.
  2. Clearasil Benzoyl Peroxide: Adapalene & benzoyl peroxide are even more effective when they work together! (Galderma, the producer of Differin, makes a name-brand drug which is adaplene + benzoyl peroxide). Benzoyl Peroxide kills bacteria, clears pores, & turns over new skin cells. 2.5-10% Benzoyl Peroxide gels are pretty much equally effective.
  3. Clindamycin: This is an antibiotic which kills anaerobic bacteria (yucky things that don’t use oxygen). Its also cheap as a generic. For the best results, apply 3-5 minutes after adapalene gel.

The beauty of all this is that these 3 drugs work best together! Also, this retinoid isn’t as harsh on the skin as Retin-A. Using Benzoyl Peroxide at 2-5% is also easy on the skin, and clindamycin is tame.

With any medication (over-the-counter or prescription), it’s best to use it consistently and on moisturized skin. I use my acne-fighting-regime after using a night cream.

Simplify Life

I’m not a minimalist in any regard…I like electronics, make-up, pens, free stuff, software, clothes! But I’m trying to mainstream my daily activities to save more time and to stress less.

Starting with my morning routine, I think I’ve scraped my make-up bag down to a good minimum for daily wear.

  • Sunscreen/Moisturizer
  • Foundation
  • Blush/Highlighter
  • Eyeliner
  • Lip stain
  • Eyelash Curler
  • Eyeshadow palette
  • Brushes: cheek and eyes

It takes 5 minutes I swear!! If you have any questions about these products, just ask.

Okay now on to stripping down my meals and workouts…I feel that I’ve been trying a lot of things but I haven’t decided on a good routine yet.
