Build Your Willpower Muscle
Your self-control “muscle” is just like the other muscles in your body — when it doesn’t get much exercise, it becomes weaker over time. But when you give it regular workouts by putting it to good use, it will grow stronger and stronger, and better able to help you successfully reach your goals.
To build willpower, take on a challenge that requires you to do something...

successful last winter quarter =)
4.0 this quarter! Earned an “A” in my Statistics class which I was most worried about. All the while taking Music, Sociology, TA’ing for Biochemistry, 20 hours a week job as Undergraduate Researcher, volunteering in the Emergency Department, and Shadowing in Radiology.
My definitely have other priorities that weight loss, but I’ve tried to dieting and exercise into my...

Stop Sugar Cravings and Habits!
Skip artificial sweeteners. Artificial sweeteners may sound like a great idea, but “they don’t lessen cravings for sugar and haven’t demonstrated a positive effect on our obesity epidemic,” says Grotto, author of 101 Foods That Could Save Your Life.
Go cold turkey. Cutting out all simple sugars works for some people, although “the initial 48 to 72 hours are tough,”...
Quiz: are you obsessed with food →
I scored a 20…meaning I need help haha. It’s stupid, but funny at the same time. However, I think I am getting obsessed with food…stressed about eating and not eating and how to fit everything in a good meal plan…eating without thinking decisively.
It all boils down to: be mindful and cultivate a healthier relationship with food.
Vinegar to control spike in blood sugar
2. Drizzle Vinegar.
Having a tablespoon of vinegar with your meal, perhaps drizzled on your salad, may temper the spike in blood sugar (a.k.a. glucose) that occurs after eating a big, carbohydrate-rich meal. This sugar surge is a problem particularly for people with diabetes, who can’t clear glucose effectively; over time, excess glucose in the blood damages tissues. (For the rest of us, a steep...

Any Pescatarians on a low-carb diet? Share ideas...
I’ve decided to maintain a pescatarian diet full of vegetables, fruits, dairy, eggs, and healthy seafood. My mother is a vegetarian, and we are a Buddhist family, but I don’t think I can give up seafood yet. It is a major source of protein and omega-3 fatty acids.
(I must admit, I also try to not throw away food, so I have some chicken and broccoli beef to finish.)
I’m...

Run off 5 Lbs →
This plan by Runners World is for losing 5 lbs without dieting (just watching the amount you already eat). I think I may try Plan 3 of this (Lose 5 Lbs in 11 Weeks) combined with cutting calories to lose 10 lbs in 10 weeks. I’m not sure if I’ll have time to run 40 miles a week though.

eat responsibly
I’m an adult now, and need to eat adult food.
I would throw away the candy at my parents’ house, but know that I’m going to have to live with temptations around in real life. Might as well get used to it and strengthen my will power.
No more junk/sugary crap food!
dreamandglitter asked: I saw your post about yoga not burning enough calories, but if you do an intense vinyasa yoga class you can burn over 600 calories in a 90 minute class. I wrote about it here http://skinnyyogagirl.tumblr.com/post/3662907188/calories-burned-comparison-for-various-exercises

Ballet Barre Workout →
I’ve been doing these exercises once a week for the past month or so, and have noticed more definition in my inner thighs! They are a great compliment to cardio, and it takes about 20 minutes to finish these 8 moves. Don’t underestimate them though…its harder to hold your leg parallel for 2 minutes with minimal movement than it sounds! (unless you’re already a dancer).
